Your booklets will have a better chance of attracting readers if the covers have full color images and text. It’s less expensive to print a full color booklet cover than you might think, and it’s almost always worth the extra small cost versus a dull one or two-color booklet cover printing. So always use full color booklet covers and full color images and text for your booklets.

Keep in mind that a "booklet" doesn't necessarily mean something that advertises items for sale. It is a matter of the product size, how it is assembled on machines, how it gets cut and stitched, and so forth. It could easily be a book, a guide, a series of maps, a photo book, an annual report, a repair manual, a coloring book, or any other idea you may have!

Choose an aqueous coating, especially for the booklet cover. Glossy coated paper is popular in publications like magazines, and gives your booklet cover printing a rich, classy look. Dull or matte coating gives your booklet cover printing a more muted, understated look, and will improve readability over a glossy coating. Aqueous coatings make your booklet and booklet cover more durable, less likely to show fingerprints and smudges, and if you are mailing your booklet, will improve its durability in the mailing process.

A heavy paper for your booklet cover printing is important. You want your covers to look great for a long time. A heavy booklet cover stock along with a resilient aqueous coating will maximize the durability of your booklet, giving you more opportunities to communicate your message. So use a thicker and more protective material for the cover of your booklet printing.

Depending on the size, weight, and your use, the inside pages may need to be very thin or very thick. While this may require custom quoting to get the printing aspect within your budget, one must very closely look at the U.S.P.S. postage rates if your book needs to be mailed to ensure the postage is within your price range. We never mark up or profit on postage when you mail with us.

Folding can be as simple or complicated as you want to make it. Conquest Graphics offers all of the most common fold configurations. These include: half fold; tri-fold; z-fold; gate fold; half and then half fold; half and then tri-fold; tri-fold and then half fold; and of course the simplest – no fold.

If you have specialized requirements, please let us know before completing your order so we can ensure your job comes out the way you need it to.

Mailing Basics

"Bulk mail" is the term used by the USPS for large mailings that can qualify for reduced postage costs. This applies to commercial First Class Mail and Marketing Mail (also know as Standard Mail). Reduced prices are available for other classes of mail, too. You should know that the USPS often uses the terms "bulk" and "presorted" interchangeably.

Bulk mail costs are lower than single piece prices. A regular stamp on a letter is a single piece postage. Many mailers pay this postage rate even though they have a large mailing. This is typically because they don’t want to do the extra preparation work. So how do you decide if your own mail should take this approach or if commercial prices are better for you? And are all commercial prices the same and how much are they? The Postal Service prices are lower for bulk mailings because part of what they would do is done by someone else (for example, sorting the mail by Zip Code or transporting the mail to a destination postal facility). The benefits from "work-sharing" are realized in cost and sometimes by expediency. We are able to provide many of these services to help get your total cost as low as possible.

In order to mail at commercial prices, you need to get a mailing permit (permission to mail) and pay an annual mailing fee for each class of mail; First-Class Mail or Standard Mail. (Conquest customers, in many cases, are allowed to use Conquests’ mailing permits, which are held at multiple postal locations. Ask us how.) You can pay your USPS permit via postage by pre-canceled stamps, postage meter, or permit imprint. You also need to choose the size, shape and weight of your mail pieces, and make sure your address list is correct. Then, presort the mail pieces by Zip Code. With that done, you can take your mailings to the Post Office where you have your mailing permit.
