Print materials are essential to MH Boxes' mission of supporting adolescent Black girls facing mental health challenges. Each Mental Health Box we distribute includes two critical printed resources: a journal and a mental health resource guide. These items are often the first tools a girl receives to help her process emotions, practice self-reflection, identify coping strategies, and access additional support.

For several years, Conquest Graphics has been an invaluable partner in helping us produce these materials. Through the support of the Conquest Graphics Print Grant Program, we have been able to professionally print journals, resource sheets, program materials, and outreach pieces that directly reach the girls and families we serve. Without this support, it would be significantly more difficult for us to include these essential resources in every box.

To date, MH Boxes has distributed more than 3,000 Mental Health Boxes to girls across Virginia and several other states. Every box includes printed materials that help normalize conversations around mental health and connect girls to resources. The journal encourages girls to express themselves, reflect on their experiences, and build healthy coping habits. The resource guide provides information on crisis support, mental health services, self-care strategies, and community resources available to them and their families.

In addition to the materials included in our boxes, print continues to play a key role in how we educate and engage our community. We use printed flyers, event materials, workshop handouts, volunteer recruitment materials, donor communications, and informational resources to increase awareness of youth mental health challenges and connect girls and families to support. Printed materials allow us to reach people in schools, community centers, healthcare settings, churches, and community events where digital outreach alone may not be sufficient.

Looking ahead, we plan to continue expanding our use of print to support our growing programs. As we develop our Her Voice Youth Board, peer leadership initiatives, caregiver education efforts, and mental health workshops, we anticipate creating additional printed resources that participants can take home and reference long after an event ends. We also plan to expand our outreach materials to reach more schools, community organizations, and healthcare providers throughout Virginia. As demand continues to grow, these printed resources remain one of the most requested and valued components of every Mental Health Box we distribute.

Direct mail and print materials have been particularly valuable because they provide a tangible connection to our mission. A printed journal can be held, written in, revisited, and treasured. A resource guide can be shared with a parent, teacher, or friend. These materials create lasting impact in ways that digital content often cannot.

The Conquest Graphics Print Grant has helped us amplify our mission while maintaining the quality and accessibility of our resources. Their support has enabled us to place meaningful, professionally produced materials directly into the hands of thousands of girls who deserve to know they are seen, supported, and not alone. As MH Boxes continues to grow, print will remain a cornerstone of our work, helping us reach more girls, strengthen community connections, and expand access to mental health support for those who need it most.
