The Mission of Our Mother's Home of Southwest Florida, Inc. (OMH) is to keep teen mothers from human trafficking and other traumas together with their children in a safe, nurturing, supportive transitional group home. Our Vision is to end the repetitive cycle of foster care and generational poverty that afflicts teen mothers and their children. OMH offers transitional housing with 24/7 care provided by certified staff for young mothers (ages 12-21). Our Mentored Living Program promotes education, health, happiness and integration into the community with home-based support services for young mothers, to include parenting classes, therapy and life skills education, counseling and tutoring, personal care and housekeeping, and independent living training. The focus of OMH is to keep young foster mothers and their babies together. The community need OMH responds to is providing a safe home for teen mothers and their children and a program to ensure they are ready for independence. Through our Mentored Living Program, young mothers have the opportunity to gain the confidence and knowledge they need to take care of themselves and their children as productive members of society. Once a young girl becomes pregnant in traditional foster care and chooses to keep her child, she finds herself without a home since most girls do not have extended family as a backup support system. OMH makes a profound difference in the lives of young mothers and their babies. With a place to live offering wrap around services, including enrichment workshops and the opportunity to finish school, residents transition into self-sufficient living and contribute to their community by being a good parent with a job and "pay it back" with volunteer services in the community.
