The League of Utah Writers has been empowering the writing and publishing goals of members through community interaction and dynamic educational opportunities from novice through professional levels since 1935. To do this, we bring in renowned writers, artists, and agents to teach our writers how to take the next steps in their careers at our two annual writing conferences, the April Pre-Quill Conference and the August Quills Conference. In between conferences, our two dozen local chapters bring writers together to learn from guest speakers and share their works in progress, providing a community of support. Though writing can be a solitary endeavor, writers need not ever feel alone, and the League is committed to fostering that inclusive sense of community. We've been doing it for almost 91 years and hope to do it for another 91 more.
We would love to use Conquest Graphics grants to print branded notepads, binders, and other items that would enhance our attendee's experiences at our conferences. We host two conferences every year: the Pre-Quill Conference in April and the Quills Conference in August. At our Quills Conference, we print hundreds of awards for our annual writing contest, The Woolley Awards. They're named for our founding president, Olive Woolley Burt, one of the most influential women in newspapers in the Intermountain West in the first half of the 20th century.
We use flyers and mailers to attract writers at various events across the state of Utah. This outreach is crucial to how the League of Utah Writers builds its membership and helps our community grow. With the support of Conquest Graphics, we would be able to get new branded materials that reflect our updated conference logos and design! Our outreach team visits a handful of events every year where they connect with would-be writers and help them take the next step in their writing journey. We've even visited other conferences out of state and shared our flyers!
We also host Utah Authors Day, an annual community outreach event codified by the Utah governor. We strive to create posters and flyers for events. These posters would be prominently displayed in bookstores and libraries across the state to help get the word out about this free event where authors can connect with readers and writers of all ages.
Print is the core function of the League of Utah Writers, because the written word is something we hold sacred. Using the print services of Conquest Graphics, we hope to reach new members and connect authors to the rest of the community. The possibilities for us to connect to new authors is endless, but we need a promotional partner to do it.
There are traditionally published authors and bestsellers in our ranks, but there's always room for more. Together, we're stronger. The ability to put more out into the world would help advance our mission considerably. We are so grateful for Conquest Graphics’ past support of the League, and we’d love for that partnership to continue. Thank you so much for your consideration!
