Here is a link to a Youtube video that shows just how easy it is to become infected with ransomware by opening a malicious document and then enabling content. Content in this case refers to embedded macros which run malicious code and download the actual ransomware.

If you ever see anything like the following when opening any type of Microsoft Office file, DO NOT enable the content. Close the file, delete the source (probably an e-mail), and let IT know that about it ASAP.
