What is printing newsletters all about? What’s involved?
Newsletters are created on the model of newspapers. They are meant primarily to
convey news and so, in order to maintain that effect, they tend to look like newspapers.
If your group wants to put out a newsletter, you and your associates should consider
a title such as First Lutheran Church Today or Chesapeake Acres News – anything
which gives the impression that your newsletter is timely.
It is what it is, and what it is is a newspaper
Beyond that, people are concerned about issues which directly affect organization.
Are there membership issues, or financial concerns? Those are the kind of things
people are very much interested in. Beyond that, there are the human interest stories.
Success in printing newsletters requires a sense of variety as well as a sense of
hierarchy: some things are very important, some things less so.
But readers of your newspaper will come to expect even the smaller, sideline features,
whether it’s an advice column or a crossword puzzle . So, by all means, if you think
that printing a newsletter would advance the interests of your organization, contact
Conquest Graphics today.
It’s not exactly news that we should be protecting the environment
There has been a lot of buzz about green printing in the past few years. It seems
like everyone in the industry wants to get on the green printing and eco friendly
printing bandwagon. The sad thing is that a lot of online printing companies talk
a good talk about being green printers and environmentally friendly printing initiatives,
but don’t really walk the walk. How can a business owner or business professional
tell the difference between an environmentally responsible online printing company,
and the ones that are just “green washing”?
Take a look at the websites of online printing services. Almost all of them mention
“going green” or “sustainable printing” practices. Very few of them will have information
about their green printer certification status. An online discount printing service
that is serious about green printing and environmental stewardship will be FSC-certified.
The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an international organization that helps
ensure that paper and other wood products are sourced from well-managed forests,
and that the wood was not harvested from clear-cutting operations, or from rain
forests, or disturbed or took advantage of indigenous peoples who live in and around
the forested lands.
