Political door hangers are an American institution. They are symbolic,
in a way, of democracy. After all, people expect their political leaders to be “of
the people” – in other words, they think of them as their neighbors. They are perfectly
comfortable with the idea of a political candidate walking up the sidewalk, knocking
on their door and asking for their vote. It’s not really any different from a neighbor
knocking on the door and asking to borrow a cup of sugar or offering a cake in celebration
of a birthday. It’s what neighbors do.

The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an international organization that helps
ensure that paper and other wood products are sourced from well-managed forests,
and that the wood was not harvested from clear-cutting operations, or from rain
forests, or disturbed or took advantage of indigenous peoples who live in and around
the forested lands.
