Useful Printing Tips for Greener Online Printing

by keith.bax@conquestgraphics.com

There’s a lot of chatter in the industry these days about green printing. One of the challenges is finding a discount printing service that “walks the walk” when it comes to green printing. Just about every online printing company talks about green printing on their website. Unfortunately, many of them are “green washing” by giving the appearance of being environmentally friendly, without really doing the work that is required to be truly green.

  1. Look for an online printing company that is FSC-certified. FSC CoC certification is a comprehensive process whereby a printing company must document and certify the movement of FSC-certified materials through the manufacturing operation. If in doubt, look for that company’s CoC certification number on their website. If you can’t find one, chances are good they are not FSC-certified. Click here for more information on FSC CoC Certification.
  2. Look for a printer that offers a wide variety of recycled paper. Conquest Graphics offers recycled papers with 10% to 100% post consumer waste content for all of our house stocks, and all of our house stocks are also FSC certified papers.
  3. Look for a printing company that employs Green Manufacturing practices in its operation. We have undertaken many different efforts to increase efficiency and reduce waste in our day-to-day operations, and we have been doing them for years. We recycle 100% of our scrap paper, we recycle our aluminum printing plates, and we employ energy-saving measures in our facility. For detail on what we do to be more green, please visit our Green Printing page for more information.
Look for a printer that is efficient. Efficiency is one of the biggest ways you can help the environment. For example, Conquest Graphics offers printing and mailing under the same roof. This saves time, and less energy is expended transporting materials from our facility to a mail house. Our electronic proofs reduce mistakes and the resulting waste that occurs when a project has to be re-printed. Finally, we have implemented a custom-developed internal workflow and management system that expedites the flow of projects through our operation.

At Conquest Graphics, we are leading the way in environmental responsibility, not because we have to, but because we want to! Do you have any comments or stories about green printing? Please feel free to share…

What is a FREE Expert File Review, and Why Is It Important?

by keith.bax@conquestgraphics.com
October 20, 2009 13:51

Putting together a file for professional-quality printing is not an easy task. Even the folks who do it every day for a living sometimes have trouble. Anyone who has sent electronic files to a printing company probably has horror stories to tell about how a technical glitch in their file either cost them a deadline, a bunch of money, or both.

Conquest Graphics offers a FREE Expert File Review. Upload your design file(s) to us, and in 2 business hours or less, a skilled and experienced prepress professional will examine your file, and email you an electronic proof, and a report outlining the potential problems in your file. Unlike many of the online printing companies who employ clunky and frustrating automated preflight systems, we have taken the approach that even a sophisticated piece of software is no substitute for a seasoned prepress professional who sees customer submitted print files all day long, every day.

There is absolutely no cost and no obligation for the FREE Expert File Review. Just upload your files, and watch your email inbox. We would be delighted to print your project once we have reviewed your file, but if you decide not to have us print it, that’s OK, too…

Please feel free to comment. Horror stories about past experiences with file problems are welcome!

Why It Is Important to Get Your Proof Quickly

by keith.bax@conquestgraphics.com

Most of you who have worked with both online and traditional commercial printers probably know what I am talking about. You know you have a delivery deadline, and you feel comfortable with the turnaround time your printer requires to get your project done. You submit your file, and everything seems OK…then you have to wait for a couple of days to get your proof, your delivery date slips, and then you miss your deadline.

Here at Conquest Graphics, we understand that knowing your turnaround times in advance of your project being produced is critically important. Our goal is to get you an electronic copy of your proof in 2 business hours or less! Depending on the product you select, and the service you require, turnaround can be a quick as 1 day! For more details on our turnaround capabilities, please visit this link:

Remember that the turnaround clock starts ticking once you have approved your proof. If you have requested a contract proof, we need you to approve the proof, then send it back to us. The clock starts ticking as soon as we get the approved proof back from you.

We understand that because the turnaround clock starts when the proof is approved, our goal is to get you an electronic proof in 2 business hours.

We take pride in saying what we will do, and doing what we say. Our extensive Testimonials speak to our commitment to our customers.

What sorts of experiences have you had with turnarounds from online discount printing services? Do tell!
